3D heritage Bricks
Technical University of Darmstadt, 2023-2025
Additive manufacturing methods offer unprecedented opportunities for the restoration of historic buildings. The geometry of damaged components for which no replacement is available can be captured by 3D scanning and reconstructed using 3D printing. As part of this project, research was carried out into the extent to which this is possible for ceramic elements such as profiled tiles or an ornamental cornice.
